I’m more of an ancient feminist than a modern feminist. I believe in the goddesses. I like that whole warrior tribal thing. – Kelly Cutrone
Well then my dear Kell, we would’ve had a blast in my Roots of the Patriarchy: Goddesses and Heroines course at UCLA. Ever since my ears heard the shrill tongue of Kelly Cutrone on that god awful show The Hills, I was in love. I was desperate for someone on reality TV who didn’t have fake teeth and a tan and Kelly was the answer. She represented so much of what I love and admire in strong women: a brain, sharp tongue and the unwillingness to put up with bullshit. Plus she did all that while wearing obscene amounts of black and not giving a fuck.
In case you haven’t figured out just yet, I subscribe to the school of smart women who wear black. Throw in a iron fist and you got yourself a good time!
“You know, people have strong connotations of what women on television should say and what they should wear and how they should look. And I’m just not into it.” [Kell] I’m not into either! In fact, if I see one more toothy idiot on TV mispronouncing Givenchy, I think I’m going to slit my wrists. Thank you Kell for saying no to blonde highlights and yes to Martin Margiella.
Kell on Earth premiers Feb. 1.

i like this warrior.
she’s great, right? I hope you read the interview because it is hilarious! She tells the person, just cuz you cant recognize that I’m wearing Margiella doesn’t mean I’m not into fashion. ha!
She is hilarious on MTV. Mr. D loves her. The juxtaposition of her witch with an acid tongue thing and the inane Barbie dolls is genius. Bravo is smart smart smart for snapping her up. They sure know how to make personality disorders household names.
I met her once during her door nazi days and had no idea who she was and realized she feeds on intimidation 100 percent. Smart in the world of fashion with all the youths and wannabes.
I question her go outside to cry management approach tho. friends who are editors have always said People’s Revolution is not thought of very highly and that’s been my experience too at events over the years…
Regardless I’ll be watching.
You’re totally spot on with the acid tongue v barbie dolls. I also think you’re spot on regarding PPl’s Revolution – if it was that huge or respected, would it actually be on The Hills? Regardless, Kell obviously knows how garner attention and I’ve since her arrival on scree I’ve seen her roster at PPls Rev grow.
I’ll be watching too. I hope it is good!
Obscure fact for the day— one of her first PR jobs was working for the Wasteland!
(also, please remember to tell me about the brawl in the lobby!)
Yes! The Kell facts are flooding in. I’ll be able to write her autobiography by the end of 2010. Any tales from Wasteland?
The fight was a good one! Pretty brutal and one of the guys had a cane. Hilarious!
I haven’t heard much– but what I have heard was NO good…
Yikes!
What an odd fit she was on The Hills. I guess she just had to pay some more dues in order to land her own show. Maybe we’ll see the Goddess Astarte descend upon the fashion world… or at least get to see something entertaining on Bravo while we wait for NeNe to make her Triumphant return.
Astarte shout out! I do miss me some NeNe Leakes.
That’s the best photo of her I’ve ever seen. Hmm.
Hahah, that’s why I choose it!
