While conducting research for Lurve Magazine I came across this photo of an Alexander McQueen skirt in the impressive book Radical Fashion. I’ve been cultivating my very own wardrobe of cage and bondage fashion and how I wish this piece was in my collection. I wouldn’t mind adding that wooden lace bolero designed by Givenchy Haute Couture as well.
The most recent issue of L’Officiel Magazine is dedicated to Alexander McQueen and its pages are filled with the life and work of the designer. His death warrants far more than a mention on any blog, and this story reminded me how devastating his death was the world of art and fashion. This creation alone is worthy of exhibit in a major museum and it saddens me that we’ll no longer witness his craft but are left to reflecting about what he once was.
Read Lurve blog here.
He was such a genius.
wow!!!!!!!!!
so cool post!!!!!!!

That bolero blows me away…much more than the skirt, to be honest.
You would look mighty fine in it Ms Wendy B!
Alexander McQueen was so smart and innovative- my eyes and mind were always delighted by his work and continue to be. He lives in the hearts of all of his friends and admirers.
There will always be other fashion designers. But there will never be another McQueen.
Isn’t the model Aimee Mullins? McQueen was, and always will be IMO, one of those designers whose pieces will transcend time and trends- I cried the day I learned of his death. People like him do not come along very often.
PS: I really, really love LURVE. How do you go about contributing to it, anyway?
PPS: I came over from Jezebel, looking for fashion blogs. Thank you for leading me to yours- it’s gorgeous.
You sure know your models! That is in fact Aimee Mullins. Like you, I also cried when I heard of Alexander McQueen’s death and I know a friend who was upset for days.
As for Lurve, I have yet to contribute editorial for the magazine but have assisted with quite a few postings on the Lurve blog. You can find me under Natalie James. By best suggestion for working with anyone is to try and make a name for yourself while simply asking if there is anything you can do.
Lastly, thank you for checking out my blog via Jezebel. I’ve been a long time reader but more of a recent commenter. Thank you for your kind words and I hope you continue to visit the blog. You can also add me on bloglovin!
Best wishes,

What a great find. McQueen genius – no doubt. Aside from the cage skirt, those below the knee/shin pad shoes really catch my eye. What would you call those?

I checked the original image and there is no mention of the legs pads we see there! How about we call them leg capsules?
I love this. It remind me of old-timey erotica in a way where the women would be just wearing their hoop skirt and showing some leg. I like that it’s natural/brown/tan colors. Hmm…. I wonder where I would wear such a skirt?
Brilliant, just brilliant!
Great post. Love your blog.
