Something Simple

Have you noticed that shoes have gone totally overboard?  I cannot leave the house without seeing obscene studs, rhinestones, ropes, braids, fringe, et al. and I’m just talking about one shoe.  Just yesterday my friend Sarah was commenting on how those new Acnes with velcro look like trash bags for the feet.  I’d like to suggest that shoe designers are testing how many accoutrements they can add to a shoe until some fashion magazine says “shoe minimal is in”; so far no takers.

With all things considered, I present the only shoe – found on a late night browse – that doesn’t have dogs chasing you down the street: Aldo’s Finnel high heel ($90).  Something my grandma could’ve worn and I can wear now.  Black leather, cuban-esque heel with no buckles, bells or whistles.  Most likely comfortable, ready for work, and not too shabby for the bedroom.

How are your feet adorned these days?  I’d love to know.

those look perfect for you! I agree with Lenya, I hope you bought them.

I’ve been longing for simpler, more classic shoes, too. Heels/platforms/wedges that aren’t 20 inches tall would also be nice. The wedge boots that everyone seems to drool over look so much like hooves that I’m convinced someone who heavily influences fashion has a Satyr fetish.

    It’s so true!
I mean the shoes created now are like walking art.
They are pretty creative and different but
honestly who would wear them on a daily basis?

You know I love basics. I’m still trying to find some heels that I can hop over a fence in, but these are cute.

OK – so was at Gilroy outlets this weekend. Guess what? – YES they have an Aldo store! The prices are just a tad lower than the regular store. And they have the NEW stuff…. Couldn’t buy anything BUT will soon! I picked out 3 pair that I would DEFINITELY say were basics…BUT SO hot!!!
