Jun 10I AM LOVE

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know of my utmost devotion to Tilda Swinton; I think she’s a brilliant woman and an amazing actress. I respect most of her choices in film and she leads the kind of fearless life that I can appreciate. When I saw that her latest film Io sono l’amore (I Am Love) was opening this weekend I was thrilled to say the least. I’ve been suffering through an awful wisdom tooth and watching this film Saturday night helped me escape my poor dental pain for two hours.
Io sono l’amore is definitely a film I’d recommend, not only because of the talented Tilda Swinton but because of how operatic and grandiose it was. Just think old Italian luxury. Throw in a wardrobe mostly Jil Sander, food porn, and a sexy bearded chef, and you’ve pretty much tapped into my dreamworld. And if you’re like me and enjoy a good sex scene in a film, this one is not to be missed. You get a very intimate view of Tilda and her lover, juxtaposed to pollinating insects in rolling fields. Dreamy.
PS Check out the trailer – this is what I call cinematography!

Tilda Swinton is my favorite living actor, full stop. I couldn’t be more excited for this, or really anything, that she chooses to do. Glad to see we’re on the same page here. I’m so upset I’m living in a horrible back-market town right now, so chances of watching this in the cinema are slim for me. Here’s hoping.
Tilda love all around. I recently read that she is set to star as Lady Bathory in a German film – I hope its true because that sounds absolutely amazing.
I’m dying to know where you live now? I don’t think I’d be able to survive without access to the latest films. No Tilda? Life wouldn’t be worth living. You obviously relate to that. Maybe you can find a decent version online?
I’m in Albuquerque right now, due to a variety of unfortunate circumstances. I grew up right outside NYC, moved to Glasgow, Scotland when I was 16 and lived there for 5 years. I got to be there for the peak of modern Scottish cinema and I got to be an active participant in the wonderful music scene there. I was then, after 5 years, bounced out of Scotland due to immigration reform and hit my feet in the middle of the desert, in a semi-ghost town in New Mexico. I got caught up going to school out here, and now I’m trapped in Albuquerque until I get my RN.
But that’s boring compared to Tilda Swinton.
I fell in love with her in Adaptation, then worked my way forward and back. Her profound androgyny is aesthetically fascinating, and she uses it to create a really confusing but irresistible sexuality. Young Adam? *Swoon* It’s also completely interesting to watch her explore sexuality into her 50s, which is equal parts brave and liberating. You know that you’re doing something right when you can inspire a 22 year old gay man with your 50 year old female body.
Oh, I could just run on forever.
I saw this trailer awhile ago and I am surprised I didn’t email it straight to you because when it got to the end all I could think of was YOU!
She is so so amazing. I can’t wait for work to end in a few days so I can start my own summer movie festival.
It flatters me that you thought “Natalie” when you saw the trailer!
