Over the weekend I had business meeting and I knew of the perfect place to meet, Broome Street General Store. Only a week into its soft-opening, I had already seen their impeccable Yelp reviews and rumor had it that they were serving up a delicious cup of coffee. I arrived on a drizzly Saturday morning to a cozy storefront that felt more like a Craftsman home in South Pasadena. Our group was greeted with friendly hellos and a welcoming atmosphere, something too rare in this town.
I knew immediately that I was going to enjoy this shop as Weck jars, Stanley thermoses, and artisanal goods caught every blink of my eye. It was hard to contain my squeals as I discovered classic must-haves at every turn and don’t even get me started on their incredible woven baskets. The inventory keeps in mind what one needs at a general store with an impeccable selection of goods. And the coffee? I ordered up a latte prepared with Gimme! Coffee beans and enjoyed every last sip at the picnic benches just outside the entrance. An added bonus was the simple syrup and agave nectar available and the mega bonus was Bret (aka Peter) of Flight of the Concords offering us his table – what a delight.

This girl here sure loves her some twine! I fawned over these beautiful balls of twine which I am considering about adding to my collection. Surely they would go perfectly with my lemon curd. What a beautiful display of craftsmanship.
