Olio Pizzeria, Santa Barbara

While visiting Santa Barbara on a warm end-of-summer evening, we found ourselves hungry and the hunt for good pizza began.  I got on Asael’s iPhone and began plugging in all of my culinary requirements on his trusty Yelp app. The one spot that really caught my eye was Olio Pizzeria so I made that our destination.  Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was how relaxed the atmosphere was and how delicious the food looked on the passing plates held in the hands of waiters.

We cozied up in front of the fire – the pizza oven- and began taking in the menu. The Insalata di Polipo (octopus, celery, parsley vinaigrette) was the first thing that caught my eye and I knew we’d have to get that as I am a huuuuuuuuge lover of octopus.  We agreed on a mixed greens salad and when it came to the pizzas, there were so many incredible ones on the menu we had to discuss the pros of each one!  Our final decision came down to the Tropea: smoked mozzarella, fennel sausage, roasted tropea onions.  The pizza was crisp where it needed to be and the toppings fresh and savory.  Definitely one of the tastiest pizzas I’ve had in a long time.

I loved the pizza bar and the Italian men who worked behind it.  If you enjoy watching your pizza being made, pull up a tall seat and watch the men at work.  I cannot wait to return to try another one of their tasty pies!

This looks positively delicious! Wow! I can’t believe I have never been to this place before! I am always in Santa Barbara and always looking for new good places to explore and discover when it comes to food. I’ll for sure have to check it out the next time I am in town! I was just in town and had a fabulous time. The weather was so perfect, I lived at the beaches! I stayed at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So elegant and the perfect place to catch up on some much needed R&R!

This sounds like a tastier stop than the requisite La Super Rica! Shall check it out on my next central coast jaunt! Thanks for the find.

The food there looks so good. I’ve never brought myself to Santa Barbara before, but I’m thinking it’s a good idea to visit. Let me jot this down on my to-do list.
