There’s a lot of new music coming out right now but my friends and I cannot stop gushing over how much we love Sade. Truly. When I was a child I thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world, not much has changed since then and she looks amazing at 51. FYI, she is the most successful solo female artist in Britain, ever.

Let me say this, if you don’t t think Sade is cool, you have been asleep for the past 30 years. I’ll even put money on that if you’re at some gallery in Silverlake and the dj throws on some Sade, all those grumpy hipsters are going to get down. I swear.

I’ve never seen so many great tights in one room. Last night I was a guest at the From Here to There holiday party hosted by the lovely Stefani Greenwood and Serge Monkewitz . Delicious food, superb music and amazing people. I’m glad I had my camera with me because the ladies were wearing some gorgeous tights in addition to their already incredible shoes. From the Dr. Marten throwbacks, to the fuschia suede heels, this group knew how to dress for a soiree.

I wish you could see my entire outfit! I wore an early nineties crushed velvet dress from the GAP paired with some American Apparel black tights and Aldo shoes (pictured above). Add a faux fur jacket and beanie and you’re practically on the set of Beverly Hills 90120. This is where all my inspiration stems from these days as I’ve been watching season 1 on the Soap Network.

Mi Vida Loca finally made it to number 1 in my Netflix queue and I finally got to watch the film from start to finish – it’s only taken me 15 years! I really wanted to see it when it first came out, but seeing that I was 10 years old, my parents didn’t find it appropriate. There was something that always drew me to the film and that was the fashion. And that it was written and directed by a woman. Even as a young girl those details were important to me.

Back to the film’s fashion. Chola culture and style has always impressed me. Long before Gwen Stefani hijacked the look, there were chicanas all over Los Angeles rocking half shirts, white cotton tees, gaudy gold necklaces, and black, black and more black. Can you say Alexander Wang? Here some of the best screen caps accompanied with Alexander Wang’s Spring lookbook. The colors and the feel made me think of so much what is coming out now. Everything pictured from the film could be replicated via American Apparel [pink dress] , Erin Wasson x RVCA [tight black skirt] and Alexander Wang [stretch lace dress]. I recommend that you try and hit up your local thrift store for that 90′s fashion that has quickly squeezed itself back into our lives.

Last night was my lucky night. All week I had been chanting in my head “please let The Craft be on” over and over. Yes, that is one of the things that had been on my mind all week if you can believe it. HBO must have been tuning into my brain waves or showing it because of Halloween [duh] and I nestled in to watch one of my favorite childhood films.

I sure miss those actresses of the 90s. They appeared genuine, healthy and like they shopped at Judy’s! Add 90s music like Veruca Salt and Portishead and you have a perfect film. I know The Craft had its flaws, but it has a special place in my heart next to Clueless and Jawbreaker. Watching it again last night made me want to start my very own fashionable coven, so if you’re interested, shoot me an email.
