LIPSTICK QUEEN

LIPSTICKQUEENSHADES

I mentioned on Monday that I hit the makeup counter at Barneys while in Las Vegas. It was Wednesday night (they close at 11p) and I wanted a new shade for our night on the town. Boy did we have a night on the town but that is too x-rated to mention right now. Back to the lipstick. I cozied up to the Lipstick Queen counter and the girls encouraged me to have at it. I tried on many different shades and I was immediately drawn to the wines and purples.

I’ve been wanting to incorporate a more severe lip color – I’ve only worn a pinkish nude – and since I’ll never go near red it was clear in which direction I was heading. I first tried the Saint Wine and was quite pleased, but then I added a top coat of the Chinatown Glossy Pencil in the “Mystery” color and I knew I found the perfect combination. I was such an exciting moment for a girl who was always weary of lipstick.

P.S. Lipstick Queen lipsticks are not tested on animals, are gluten-free and do not use any harsh ingredients.

Shown here: Wine Saint ($18.00), Chinatown Glossy Pencil “Mystery” ($20.00)

LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas was an absolute blast. There was not enough time in the day for us to do everything we wanted to. It was difficult going through the hundreds of photos I took and figuring out which ones I wanted to share on the blog. The first is yet another addition to my ever growing collection of “me wearing hats” photos. Since I refuse to succumb to my strange affection for fur and actually buy it, I always gush over fur hats when I spot one. What can I say? I absolutely won’t buy it but I love playing in it. It is sick, I know.

The second photo was from a restaurant we passed in Caesar’s Palace. Wow, right? Lastly, I must discuss the greatness of Hoover Dam. This image was found in the women’s restroom and I couldn’t stop taking photos of it. So much of Hoover damn appears to have Occult influences and you haven’t visited I suggest you do. Art deco astrology signs, planets, and figures line the damn and it was truly a sight to see. There was even a tape playing over a load speaker that said the designer constructed his designs to impress “future civilizations”, er, aliens.

P.S. I am wearing lipstick in the above photo. I sat at the Las Vegas Barneys counter one night and just had at it. More on the color and product to come. I love it.

This past weekend I hosted my sister’s bachelorette party in Las Vegas.  We arrived Thursday night and the fun did not stop until we left on Sunday afternoon.  We stayed at the Venetian and I recommend it to those looking to visit Las Vegas as the hotel was simply perfect.  The hotel’s spa was absolutely amazing, so if you’re looking for a good massage and pure bliss, that is your place.

Las Vegas is not a city I visit often, but I am so glad I threw the party there as it makes getting wild quite easy.  There was plenty of XXX fun, but I still managed to visit the new Barneys, hit the best boutiques and indulge in the most delicious food.  Buchon anyone?

Pending Purchase / Vena Cava

This past weekend I ventured over to the Americana in Glendale to use my birthday gift certificate at Barneys Co-Op.  I had my eye on a ruffled 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt, and since that store is always empty and I have never seen anyone buy anything in there, I knew my skirt would be patiently waiting for me.  WRONG.

Everything else was still in its place, but my skirt disappeared.  It’s now off their website too!  Luckily, the VENA CAVA rack satiated my fashion desires.  Their purple tired petal dress was to D-I-E for, and when I received my Barneys catalog in the mail yesterday I was reminded how much I want it.  I can’t imagine it flying off the shelf at the Americana, so should I wait?  Or might I face another fashion disappearance?

Gossip Girl Returns to the City

Fashion Intel here,

This week we were seeing red and bold prints as Gossip Girl was bidding adieu to summer and saying hello to the city.  We did not see as many wardrobe changes as we would’ve liked, but what we did catch surely did not disappoint.  Sweaters for Squash [Chuck].  Slips on the beach [Serena]. Neon abound. [Vanessa]  Here are our top moments from last night’s show.

  1. Blair in culottes. Hmmm…we’re going to have to think about that.
  2. All is well, Blair has changed into our favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra Sleeveless Silk Dress!
  3. Vanessa – Alexis Bittar much?  It’s fine, you should see our collection.
  4. “Bromance”
  5. We FINALLY get to see inside Serena’s closet.  I spy a BARNEYS hanger!
  6. It wouldn’t be an episode if we didn’t see Chuck in a preppy knit sweater.
  7. AND if we didn’t see Blair sporting a bow of sorts.
  8. Santo Gold is a good choice to add to our fashion soundtrack.  +1 Gossip Girl music editor
  9. Jenny, you look so grown up with all that lipstick.
  10. Welcome home Upper Eastsiders.  Get ready for Fall Fashion!

From L to R: Forever 21 Satin Rose Headband ($4.80), Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra Sleeveless Silk Dress ($150), Marc by Marc Jacobs Concrete Jungle Print Dress ($460), American Apparel Afrika Printed Cotton Legging ($34) and Afrika Printed Cotton Spandex JerseyToo-Short Tube Dress ($29), Alexis Bittar Horseshoe Necklace ($115)

IN THE MAIL / THE ROW, LEATHER LEGGINGS

What better way to calm my stress of summer school midterms, ailments, and daily life than to receive a lovely email from Barneys urging me to get my very own pair of LEATHER LEGGINGS. Not but a few hours ago the beating sun was extracting perspiration through my white American Apparel v-neck, but the truth is I always dream of fashion through the eyes of Fall colors and fabrics.

Leggings, as those closest to me know, make me vomit in my own mouth. Much to my surprise I squealed with joy when I saw this image of Coco Rocha wearing leather, clutching Goyard, donning leopard on the skull, in front of a scene of white monochromatic books. Did someone peer into my mind last night while I was sleeping? This is my winning combination. This will be my look for Fall. Now if I can only get a hand on $1,700 so that I can help fill the pockets of those struggling artists Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen. What can I say, I love The Row and those stylish girls.

FYI: The Row’s studio is down the street from my apartment. I’ll be keeping my eye out for any “sample sales.” In my dreams.
