From Elle June 2009
Chloe Sevigny is one of the coolest girls on the planet. From Sassy to Big Love, Chloe’s style is a look that is championed by the creative and booed by the masses. Chloe’s looks in Elle are totally inspiring me right now.
Don’t forget to pre- order your Chloe Sevigny “Buckle Boots” from Opening Ceremony!
More photos after the break.

As I promised, here are my photos from the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Photographs were strictly prohibited inside the exhibit, but I had to capture a few to remember this amazing retrospective. I’m pretty slick, and went unnoticed.
[Top] The welcome photo at the entrance into the exhibit.
[Top Left] This sheer dress was my favorite garment in the entire exhibit. It was made of chiffon with an ostrich feather bottom. I also loved that gold snake belt as an accoutrement. Something I learned from the exhibit, which I might have been in denial of – I LOVE FEATHERS! [Top Right] This was another feathered dress, with a scale-like dress behind it. They were both behind a large glass wall, but their beauty was evident.
[Lower Left] The Mondrian dress. You know it, you probably love it, now see it in person. In fact, there were numerous dresses in the exhibit that showcased YSL’s admiration for the arts. [Lower Right] This one’s for you Stefani! This woven wedding dress was prominent right in the center of the exhibit. I cannot believe I got this great shot! As soon as I saw it, I thought of you. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Do something great in 2009 – visit your local museum and become a member! Cannot afford that? Drop them a $5 donation. Every bit counts, trust me.

Though gas prices are finally below $3.00 in California, I cannot help think of all the clothes, shoes and accessories I could’ve bought with the money I spent on gas. Sigh – have you felt our economic apocalypse, or what?

I’ve been holding onto this image because I was absolutely thrilled seeing it in Domino Magazine. I haven’t spotted it in any fashion mags, but maybe that is because it is Kenneth Cole and their clothes have never transmitted to my interest. I do love their ads though and how politically conscious they always aim to be.
No doubt this fall campaign “We All Walk in Different Shoes” is meant to open up a discourse on identity politics. Nina looks great. What are your thoughts?

Lula, Girl of my Dreams is probably my favorite magazine in publication. I love this magazine because the editors/artists who put it together make me feel as if they read my childhood diary. Lula picks all the cool girls, but not the ones you hated in high school. Instead they pick the smart, interesting, and creative girls that always intrigued you.
I was so happy to see the new issue and with Ali Micheal on the cover no less. Ali has been through a very public roller-coaster ride, including designers calling her fat in Paris, her televised admittance of Anorexia and treatment, followed by a backlash then empathy, and popping up again during NYC fashion week looking thinner than ever. I wish Ali well and the best of health. She looks absolutely beautiful in this Lula spread, so we thank the magazine for seeing what we see in Ali.

This past weekend I ventured over to the Americana in Glendale to use my birthday gift certificate at Barneys Co-Op. I had my eye on a ruffled 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt, and since that store is always empty and I have never seen anyone buy anything in there, I knew my skirt would be patiently waiting for me. WRONG.
Everything else was still in its place, but my skirt disappeared. It’s now off their website too! Luckily, the VENA CAVA rack satiated my fashion desires. Their purple tired petal dress was to D-I-E for, and when I received my Barneys catalog in the mail yesterday I was reminded how much I want it. I can’t imagine it flying off the shelf at the Americana, so should I wait? Or might I face another fashion disappearance?
