You’ve probably never heard me say this & never will again – there is a God! No Doubt announced they’re going on tour in 2009 and will be working on a new album. The secret is out of the bag, I love No Doubt. I also love Gwen Stefani, even though she needs to work on her race politics [read Salon article].
Love this new photo of the band. Time to remember all my Jr. High No Doubt memories and sigh – ND, here i come!

As much as my boyfriend cringes at the sight of animal print, as I am sure many of you do, I cannot get enough of chic leopard. There is something about the very gaudy that attracts me. That is the reason I cannot stop buying gold! Maybe my influence comes from my riot grrrl days of Doc Martens, fishnets and leopard or my former love for Gwen Stefani. Whatever the case, this urge hasn’t vanished in my twenties and who knows if it ever will. I might end up like my 70+ year old red-headed friend named Susan Allen who only wears cheetah print and orange. Probably not, but she’s so amazing I had to mention her.
Target brought us the glory of Gregory Rogan these past few months, and the response has been huge. Rogan for Target has by far been the best Go International collection ever produced. Plus, the dress is still on sale for $39.99. It is no surprise that Forever 21 has tried to capitalize on this fabulous collection, by producing their own Safari Tunic. Definitely a doppelgänger. Animal print surely holds no copyright, but if you’re going to chose between the two, opt for Rogan’s environmentally-conscious silk dress.

Remember the sweet days when Miu Miu cost half the price of Prada? I’m not sure what warranted the upward shift, considering our L.A. store didn’t even generate enough revenue to stick around, but I have always thought Miu Miu was absolutely fabulous. Often called the clothes for the hipper/edgier girl, I always find myself asking why I am not “hip” (rich) enough to buy anything but an accessory. On a side note, I am still trying to convince my sister to allow me to wear this dress to her wedding (I am the maid of honor).
Don’t even get me started on how perfect I think Miu Miu Spring 2008 is. Truly, wonderful. Jesters? Kirsten Dunst? I guess I’ll have to wait for everything on Net-a-Porter to go half-off. C’est la vie.

Why does everyone love Gwen Stefani? Whatever the reason, she has done it again. I mean that Gwen has managed to market herself into a product one more time and convince me to buy it. I believe it can all be traced to my sixth grade obsession with No Doubt. Don’t tell me you didn’t wear bindis, rhinestones on your bra, and patent leather Dr. Martens!
This September Gwen will introduce her new Harajuku Lovers fragrance collection. She has created her dolls out of her own spitting image, as well as her four backup singers. She says “…so much had been done already with creating these girls — dreaming up the entire world while I was working on the first solo album, living the fantasy on tour — the actual fragrance selection wasn’t that hard.” The scents are Love (sensuous floral), Angel (fruity floral), Music (delicate floral), Baby (powdery musk), and G for Gwen (fruit, flowers & sandalwood).
The collection will be carried in Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard’s and Sephora. In select stores you will be able to spot life size dolls based on the fragrance. They will also be accompanied by a photo booth where customers can take their pictures with the characters.
How long will this Harajuku Lovers world last? I can’t say because I didn’t expect it to get ths far – I mean, wasn’t everyone who was cool into Harajuku like in 1995? What I can promise is that this time I won’t get swept into Gwen’s wonderland until I smell the perfume. I still have a entire bottle of L (LAMB) waiting to be used by someone who isn’t me.
