I have got a hunch about Eva Mendes and it is that she is secretly cool. Ever since I posted her Vogue Italia photo spread [ shot by Steven Meisel] I cannot stop wondering about how she hasn’t been given the opportunity to do something interesting in Hollywood. I have read enough cultural studies texts to know that Cubanas/Latinas are rarely given the chance in media perform outside of the “spicy vixen” or maid stereotype. Eva even mentions in her Lula interview that she doesn’t get many scripts with interesting female characters. Isn’t it time to start making better films?
This is why I am totally rooting for Eva! If my favorite magazine in the world says “She’s a Lula Girl at heart” then I know my suspicions were legit. Simply looking at these photos makes me love her even more. How could you not?

I’ve seen these girls around but when I read about them in the new Lula magazine I was inspired to finally give them a listen. I am thrilled that cool girls are still making music that I can dance to.

My closest friends are all bonkers. The most amazing women in the world are bonkers. I too am a bit bonkers.
Thank goodness Lula has once again saluted those who are not only beautiful, but bonkers as well. These scans come from the latest issue of Lula magazine featured under the title “A Perfect Mess.” Norwegian illustrators Jonas Lofgren/Bildmekanik bring a twist to this season’s best spring looks by drawing our favorite women into our favorite designers. This is why Lula is absolutely the best magazine on the rack. They take a reader’s dreams and put it on paper.

The black cat is out of the bag – the Fashion Intel loves witches and all things witchery. We had thousands of hits for Harry Potter’s Hermione in Harper’s Bazaar [Emma Watson], so apparently the rest of you like witches too! What better time of the year to celebrate pointy hats, black dresses, and ultra-designed tights? Even better when they are designed by Luella Bartley.
It is now October, one of my favorite months of the year, so count on more Halloween treats and maybe some tricks. For this Friday, enjoy this lovely spread from the latest issue of Lula Magazine.

Lula, Girl of my Dreams is probably my favorite magazine in publication. I love this magazine because the editors/artists who put it together make me feel as if they read my childhood diary. Lula picks all the cool girls, but not the ones you hated in high school. Instead they pick the smart, interesting, and creative girls that always intrigued you.
I was so happy to see the new issue and with Ali Micheal on the cover no less. Ali has been through a very public roller-coaster ride, including designers calling her fat in Paris, her televised admittance of Anorexia and treatment, followed by a backlash then empathy, and popping up again during NYC fashion week looking thinner than ever. I wish Ali well and the best of health. She looks absolutely beautiful in this Lula spread, so we thank the magazine for seeing what we see in Ali.
