Driving down HWY 1 there is no shortage of organic produce, pumpkins, pies and jam. Asael and I saw a sign that said “jam tasting” and we immediately made a u-turn and drove right up to the jam haven. The place was called Swanton Berry Farm and is the oldest organic strawberry farm in Califonia. The place had tons of jams to sample – which we did – and if you wanted to buy something, it was on the honor system. All you had to do was leave your money and make change if you needed. Ah, what a way to live.
We grow nopales (cactus) in my backyard so I was excited to see this field of them when we visited the farm. The place was full of wonderment, including these teeth and an awesome scale that I just had to share with you.
The last photo is of one of my favorite places in the world, Big Sur. What a great view from Nepenthe restaurant at sunset. Cannot wait to return.

Tuesday night I got back from a wonderful trip to Tracy – San Francisco – Half Moon Bay – Pescadero – Coastanoa – Big Sur. My honey and I had an amazing time and it was so hard to go back to work. In Pescadero we stopped by Harley Farms, home to the cutest goats and some of the most delicious goat cheese I’ve tasted. We had so much fun sampling over 10 cheeses and playing with the barn kitties. If you’re driving down HWY 1 I highly recommend you visit Harley Farms.
Just 10 miles down the road was our campground at Costanoa. A big thanks to my friend Stefani for her recommendation. We had an amazing time there. Our canvas tent was a lovely getaway in the woods, equipped with a heated mattress pad. Our campground had a jacuzzi where wild times were had and it was such a treat simply to enjoy all the silence. In the evening we spotted at least 20 deer grazing just steps away from us. We even saw a fox! I love wildlife.
Tomorrow, Big Sur.

Las Vegas was an absolute blast. There was not enough time in the day for us to do everything we wanted to. It was difficult going through the hundreds of photos I took and figuring out which ones I wanted to share on the blog. The first is yet another addition to my ever growing collection of “me wearing hats” photos. Since I refuse to succumb to my strange affection for fur and actually buy it, I always gush over fur hats when I spot one. What can I say? I absolutely won’t buy it but I love playing in it. It is sick, I know.
The second photo was from a restaurant we passed in Caesar’s Palace. Wow, right? Lastly, I must discuss the greatness of Hoover Dam. This image was found in the women’s restroom and I couldn’t stop taking photos of it. So much of Hoover damn appears to have Occult influences and you haven’t visited I suggest you do. Art deco astrology signs, planets, and figures line the damn and it was truly a sight to see. There was even a tape playing over a load speaker that said the designer constructed his designs to impress “future civilizations”, er, aliens.
P.S. I am wearing lipstick in the above photo. I sat at the Las Vegas Barneys counter one night and just had at it. More on the color and product to come. I love it.

I’m back from the desert – Palm Springs and Joshua Tree – and I’m exhausted from the amazing time we had. Truly, I thought about staying a few more days and calling my work to tell them I was dead. This trip could be called an impromptu one but seeing that I’m a Virgo even with not planning this mini-vacation, there was still lots of planning. We just had to see the Perseid Meteor Shower from the desert, so we did! Thanks to reader Natalie A. for joining us. Power swing!
We needed a cost-friendly hotel with a decor that would meet my standards. I know what I like and ACE seemed to fit the profile. Great location, delicious food, wonderful decor. I loved our room and the pool was absolutely great at 2 a.m. Alcohol infused snow cones? Yes, please!
Since I could go on for hours and I know people don’t usually read past the first paragraph on blogs, here’s a list of the things I really enjoyed in no particular order:
1. The Turkish robes in our room 2. The amazing singing/stylish hostess (above) at King’s Highway restaurant 3. Seeing meteors fly in the sky 4. Having 2 sound baths. 5. Swinging friends in hammocks 6. Thrifting lots of great things, including a vintage Gucci bag 7. Having an outer-body experience 8. Sweating 9. Night swimming & 10. Seeing DOV CHARNEY – barf – at Revivals thrift store in P.S. with 2 of his girls buying bolero ties. Ugh, boleros? Could it be anymore obvious. You can read more about that on my twitter page.

Yesterday I received a message from the Integratron about the Perseid meteor shower coming up in a couple of weeks. I was thrilled to say the least and immediately bought tickets when I got home. For $35 I get to revisit the Integratron, have another sound bath, hang out under the stars and see some meteors. I’m just so happy I have another reason to head back to the desert.
If you want to read more about the event check out The Mojave Desert Land Trust. Their mission is to protect and save the desert’s ecosystems, scenic and cultural resources, and quality of life for residents, visitors and future generations.
As for my desert ensemble, considering it has been 100 in the day and 80 at night, I think I’ll pass on the faux fur jackets and leotards that I wore on my last visit. I also don’t think I should do any more rock climbing in Sigerson Morrison flats. Duh. On a side note, has anyone stayed at the ACE HOTEL yet?

This past weekend I hosted my sister’s bachelorette party in Las Vegas. We arrived Thursday night and the fun did not stop until we left on Sunday afternoon. We stayed at the Venetian and I recommend it to those looking to visit Las Vegas as the hotel was simply perfect. The hotel’s spa was absolutely amazing, so if you’re looking for a good massage and pure bliss, that is your place.
Las Vegas is not a city I visit often, but I am so glad I threw the party there as it makes getting wild quite easy. There was plenty of XXX fun, but I still managed to visit the new Barneys, hit the best boutiques and indulge in the most delicious food. Buchon anyone?
