AUTONOMY

“Everything I do, I do for Ava.  I want Ava to have the best life I can give her.  I want my daughter’s thoughts to be her thoughts.  I want her feelings to be her feelings.  I want Ava to be creative and I want her to trust and listen to herself.  That means I want my daughter to be autonomous.  I want her to be the empowered young woman.  That’s what I want for her.”

Kelly, as if you already didn’t garner my love with your collecting of crystals, talking astrology and buying sex toys at one of my favorite sex shops, Babes in Toyland. Now you’re discussing the empowerment of young women and the importance of autonomy.  I cannot believe this is even being aired on television – thank you!

If you’re not watching Kell on Earth, then what are you doing?
Watch a clip of Kelly shopping at Babes in Toyland and her Q&A with the shop here!

OCTOBER FEST

timburtonbazaar1

timburtonbazaar2

October is my favorite month of the year. Why? One word. HALLOWEEN. Everything leads up to this amazing day and you have 30 days to prepare. The weather starts cooling off in L.A., all the stores put out their skull tsotchkes, and black makeup becomes omnipresent. What more could a girl ask for?

This October my boyfriend and I are heading up to Nor Cal to spend Halloween with my sister in San Francisco. I’ll be dressing up as Lady Gaga – nay, I will become Lady Gaga – and Asael still has no idea what obnoxious character he’s going to conjure up.

I wanted to start this month off with a post of some beautiful images in the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar. High fashion meets Tim Burton. What you can look forward to for the month of October on Fashion Intel:

+ Black, black and more black
+ Witches, Magic and the Occult
+ An updated site with lots of changes

xoxo
Natalie

WHAT’S BREWING

rachel-antonoff-fall-09-91

I haven’t read fashionista.com in such a long time, but I am glad that I did today!  They have Rachel Antonoff’s entire Fall 09 lookbook up on their site and the photos feature Alia Shawkat, Julia Frakes, and Sarah Sophie looking absolutely lovely.  Such sweetness & witchery!

This photo of Alia Shawkat is exactly what the Fashion Intel loves and to be honest, I could probably wear that look every day!  Hat included. I had to post this look because not only is the dress rad, but my long-time boyfriend has a celebrity crush of Arrested Development’s Maybe. [fyi there's more Alia on Rachel's official site] Wink.

So can see more images over on Fashionista.com

Bedknobs & Broomsticks

The black cat is out of the bag – the Fashion Intel loves witches and all things witchery.  We had thousands of hits for Harry Potter’s Hermione in Harper’s Bazaar [Emma Watson], so apparently the rest of you like witches too!  What better time of the year to celebrate pointy hats, black dresses, and ultra-designed tights?  Even better when they are designed by Luella Bartley.

It is now October, one of my favorite months of the year, so count on more Halloween treats and maybe some tricks.  For this Friday, enjoy this lovely spread from the latest issue of Lula Magazine.

Every time Erin Fetherston & Zooey Deschanel get together, magic fills the air.  Even better is when they collaborate for Lula Magazine under a whimsical spread of fairies in the woods.  These folksy dreamers know how to act out a fairytale worth subscribing to.  Forget Disney, and go for frolicking, witchery, and earth magic with Zooey Deschanel.
